The bandog was first breed by a veterarian named Swinford in the USA.He wanted to produce a great protection dog.The term bandog is derived fron the old english and refers to a large dog that was chained in the day and released at night to gaurd property.The most commen breeding to produce bandogs is an american pitbull terrier to a neopolitian mastiff cross.Some lines of bandog are breeding true to type.The bandog is an absolutely incredible animal with the power to stop an intruder in his tracks,yet gentle with children an family.The bandog does not seek dominece over family members as some of the other large breeds.If socilized it can get a long with other animals altough some have more drive .Loyal and intellagent the bandog is truely one of the worlds best companion and protection dogs.
